The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department has revealed the line-up for this year’s Chalk the Block festival that will take place October 14-16, 2016 in downtown El Paso.

Chalk the Block is one of the largest arts festivals in the region, drawing more than 40,000 El Pasoans and visitors to the Downtown Arts District each year. This year, the festival will be featuring music, artists and entertainment from all over including:

  • Go For It – Matthew Hoffman, Chicago, Illinois
  • The Carpetbag Brigade – New River, Arizona
  • Selfie Wall – Agency Architecture, El Paso, Texas/Clayton, Missouri
  • Gon Kirin – Teddy Lo – Hong Kong
  • Wall to Wall Mural Project – Curated by Los Dos featuring local and regional artists

Chalk the Block is still taking applications for chalk artists and vendors to participate in the 2016 Chalk the Block event. Interested artists and vendors who would like to participate in this year’s festival must submit an application by September 1, 2016.

Chalk Artists can apply in one of three categories:

  • Showcase
  • Emerging
  • Student

Showcase and Emerging Artist categories are for individuals ages 18 or older. Artists applying in the student category must be high school age.

Applications for vendors, including artists, artisans, crafts, and mobile food vendors, are also open at this time. This year the vendor opportunities have expanded to include Food Cottage Industries in addition to handcrafted art sales.

All applications and requirements are available at chalktheblock.com.

Vendors and artists should submit their applications as soon as possible as the spaces are limited, and it is a highly competitive process.

Chalk the Block will take place October 14-16, 2016. For more information, call 915-212-0110.
