We hear every day that freedom isn't free, but as we get ready to head into the three day Memorial Day weekend full of swimming and cookouts, the families and friends of five Fort Bliss soldiers who were killed earlier this month came face to face with just how much freedom really costs.
Major General Dana Pittard has been the commanding general at Fort Bliss since July of 2010. His last day is this Thursday, so last night he sat down to talk about Fort Bliss past, present, and future on ABC-7 Xtra.
We already know that soldiers at Fort Bliss are heroes for their service to our country in both Iraq and Afghanistan, but to a 3 year old boy in Afghanistan, they must seem like SUPER heroes after they rescued him from a 30 foot well.
Every week, I'm honored to bring a soldier's story to our listeners with Military Mondays, and this week, I'm especially pleased to be able to introduce you to SSG Luis Hernandez. He sent us a postcard from Afghanistan!
It’s my honor to do a weekly feature here at KISS FM called Military Mondays. It’s a blog that celebrates our troops stationed in the El Paso area. This week, we hear from a very proud girlfriend/niece of two members of our local troops!
