Carlos Santana — women's shoe designer, Rob Thomas collaborator and classic rock guitarist — felt the wrath of the Beyhive this week, after he told Australia Associated Press that Adele deserved it more and Beyonce "is very beautiful to look at," but "not a singer, singer."

The musician has now apologized.

"I would like to clarify a comment that was reported when I was doing an interview for some upcoming shows in Australia & New Zealand," Santana wrote on Facebook on Tuesday (February 14). "My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammies. My comment about Beyonce was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way. I wish Beyonce and her family all the best."

Santana had originally told the AAP, "I think that Adele won because she can sing sing... With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it's more like modeling kind of music -- music to model a dress -- she's not a singer, singer, with all respect to her."

Adele said of Lemonade's impact following her Album of the Year win, "It was so monumental, and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-baring, and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see — and we appreciate that."

"And all us artists here adore you. You are our light, and the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering and you make them stand up for themselves."
