Suspected marijuana use was behind the alleged terroristic threats made by a 15-year-old Canutillo High School student against a teacher yesterday. The teacher confronted two students after lunch Thursday afternoon about the suspected drug use. One student cooperated with the teacher, but the other student, an unidentified male, began to verbally assault the teacher and threatened to kill the teacher.

The student was asked to leave the classroom to cool down, but when the teacher went to check on him, he was found cutting his arms with a knife. Security was notified and they disarmed the student and detained him. The student was taken to Las Palmas Hospital for treatment.

The teen is now facing charges of making terroristic threats.

Canutillo Independent School District officials released a Facebook statement that assured parents that safety is their first priority and everyone involved in the incident is fine.
