Just when the idea of the Disney princess has finally caught up to the 21st century, she might be taking another giant leap backwards. Disney's Merida became a role model for little girls last year, but now that the character is going to production as a doll, Merida is getting a sexy makeover – and it's really ticking some people off.

Merida's dress went from drab and demure to sparkly, low-cut, and form-fitting. And while little girls seem to like the sparkles and bright colors of Merida's new look, the movie's director says that "subconsciously" little girls are also "soaking in the sexy 'come hither' look and the skinny aspect of the new version."  Disney counters with, "Merida exemplifies what it means to be a Disney Princess through being brave, passionate, and confident and she remains the same strong and determined Merida from the movie."

What do you think of the makeover? Do you worry about this kind of thing for your daughter or are people blowing it out of proportion?
