If you like your movies classic and your brunch fancy (but not in a snobby kind of way) then consider a Sunday afternoon kickback at Ardovino's Desert Crossing for this month's Sunset Film Society's Classic Film Presentation.

This Sunday, October 16, life long film fan, historian and collector Jay Duncan presents a double-dose of 1950's alien invasion movies.

First up is The War of the Worlds. This is the original version, not the one with Tom Cruise. This 1953 version was the inspiration for a 1990s TV series, and the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day.

War will be followed by The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the 1956 movie about a small-town doctor besieged by his patients who have become hysterical, claiming their loved ones have changed into emotionless "pod people." This movie has been remade three more times since so you know its good.

The Alien Thrill-o-Rama will get underway at 12 noon at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing, 1 Ardovino Drive, in Sunland Park, NM.

It's free to see and reservations are recommended. Call 575-589-0653 extension 3 if you're down to watch. An a la carte brunch will be available for purchase
