IS A SCENE FROM 'THE CHAMP' TRULY THE SADDEST EVER?: According to a scientific study done at UC Berkeley, the saddest movie scene of all time is from the 1979 movie "The Champ".

The movie, a remake of a 1931 film, tells the story of a washed-up boxer (Jon Voight), who returns to the ring to make enough money to retain custody of his son (Ricky Schroeder). The scene that drew the most tears has The Champ laid out on the training table as his son pleads for him to wake up after what turns out to be a fatal beating in the ring.

Note: the study was done 16 years ago, which means scenes from modern tear-jerkers like "The Notebook", "Titanic", and "Marley and Me" weren’t part of the mix. ABC News resurrected the study results in a recent newscast.
