El Paso isn't a bad place to be, just not for Valentine's Day. In fact, it's one of the worst, according to Wallethub.

The list-happy financial site recently rated El Paso the cheapest place to say 'I do', but when it comes to the romance part of the relationship equation we didn't fare as well, placing near the bottom of their 2019's Best Places for Valentine's Day rankings.

Out of the 100 biggest cities in America, El Paso was ranked 71 -- slightly better than last year's #79.

To find "the most romantic and cost-effective cities for celebrating Valentine’s Day," Wallethub used some kind of voodoo science that took into account 25 key metrics like restaurant-meal costs and the number of romance-inspired businesses such as  jewelry stores.

El Paso's rank was hampered by the lack of "gift accessibility," which includes the number of florists and chocolate shops, and the low number of Valentine's Day "activities" El Pasoans have to choose from.

Clearly this was calculated before it was announced lovers could spend the most romantic night of the year having dinner and watching a free movie at Ascarate Park.
