It’s that time of year again; time to keep your children in line with the help of Santa's little spy that hides throughout your house, and peeps on them to make sure they’re not being naughty.

I'm referring to that creepy Elf on a Shelf.

With your help, Santa's snitch -- er, I mean "scout elf" -- moves around the house hiding in a new spot each morning to represent his nightly trips back to the North Pole to report on the child's activities.

Side note: When I was a kid we didn't have the threat of an elf on the shelf to make us behave. We had dad's belt around the waist and mom's chanclas in the closet to keep us from acting like spoiled brats. And not just at Christmastime.

But I digress.

The on-going game of hide and seek can be a challenge for time-strapped, sleep-deprived parents, so we asked Mike and Tricia Facebook fans to post photos of where Elf on the Shelf showed up at their house. Above are a few of the more creative submissions.

You can find many more ideas on the Elf on the Shelf Facebook page, and Elf on the Shelf website. So click around and come up with a plan before you're all snuggled up in bed and suddenly realize you forgot to move the darn elf.

And to any kids that might be reading this: He. Is. Watching. You have been warned.
