This Memorial Day weekend avoid drinking and driving with the City of El Paso’s free ride service.

There is a slew of fun stuff to do this Memorial Day weekend but if you end up having one too many alcoholic drinks and hopefully you don't drive, you have a free ride home and that includes transport of your vehicle as well.

Thanks to former Mayor of El Paso, Oscar Leeser, there's free public service that offers rides to El Paso residents who are too drunk or buzzed to drive home.

According to the CDC every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver.

El Paso residents do have options whether it be an Uber, a sober friend, or a designated driver but if they find themselves in a position where you cannot find a ride then this safe and free ride home is available. The service is actually available all year long, 24/7.

The free service offers designated drivers to anybody in the city of El Paso. The service will also transport the vehicle to their residence that same night. They will transport from establishments or homes that have served alcohol to residential housing but will not provide bar hoping service

The free service is available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. For a free, safe ride home call 915-212-7777.
