Arizona Man Charged With Deaths Of Two El Pasoans After Allegedly Driving Drunk
There was a horrible traffic accident Wednesday night that ended in the deaths of two people. It was all due to an alleged drunk driver. El Paso Police have released the name and mugshot of the man they say is responsible.
47-year old Sterling Ashcroft was allegedly driving drunk when he hit several vehicles on I-10 west and Joe Battle last night around 9:15. Ashcroft hit one vehicle that then hit another. That vehicle collided with an 18 wheeler. The truck Ashcroft was driving kept pushing the first car he hit. That car caused two more vehicles to crash into each other.
29 year old Garett Hoff, and 55-year-old Virginia Acosta, died at the scene.
Ashcroft is facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter, as well as charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Intoxication Assault.
He is in the El Paso County Jail under bonds totaling $626,500.
