The iconic Chico's that has sat at Montana and Chelsea for over 40 years will fall to make way for a Walmart Neighborhood Market grocery store.

Walmart did make a lot of changes to original site plan to make the City happy including adding two pad sites to the development where stores or restaurants could be located, and adding more trees and other landscaping than is required under city regulations.

But just because the City is happy, doesn't mean everyone else is.  At a Plan Commission meeting last month, some residents said they don’t want a Wal-Mart at that location because it will increase car traffic.  But Walmart said they did a survey and more than 400 residents of the area say they do want the store.

The owners of Chico's said the Walmart is a good thing because it will help bring more customers to the area.  They also said that they are looking at new sites to reopen in the area.
