We recently reported the announcement that Shailene Woodley was cut out of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' because the movie was streamlined, but that may have been cover. Canadian actress Sarah Gadon confirmed she's joining the franchise, and it's hard not to wonder if the two are connected.

tweeted about it.

Cinemablend then theorized that she must be the replacement for Woodley, which is a very believable theory. Considering that 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' is in the midst of shooting, it seems more likely that the up-and-coming actress was not hired for a bit role -- unless it's an end credits stinger.

Gadon has previously done a lot of television work in Canada, has appeared in David Cronenberg's last two movies, and will be in Conenberg's next film 'Maps to the Stars.' She's also signed up to star in Universal's would-be tentpole 'Dracula' redo with Luke Evans, which suggests that Hollywood has been courting her. Regardless, if she's in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' it's unlikely her role will remain a secret for long.
