The best laid plans of gators and men often go awry.

Surveillance cameras in Miami caught a man in a convenience store trying to trade an alligator for a six-pack of beer earlier this month.

Fernando Caignet Aguilera caught the four-foot gator in a park and took it to the store where he suggested the unusual barter. An alligator was certainly not the type of green the cashier was used to dealing with, so he elected to call the police, who showed up to seize the animal.

Aguilera was cited for catching the creature and trying to sell it.

The alligator was released back into his native environment. No word on whether Aguilera ever got his beer, although we have a hunch the whole incident probably left him thirsty for some Gatorade.
