Alabama Fan Taunted and Shot After LSU Game
Police say a man was shot in both of his legs after the suspects taunted him for being an Alabama fan at a gas station early Sunday morning following the Alabama-LSU game.
AL.com reports that there was a physical altercation at the Shell station in Tuscaloosa hours after the 38-17 Alabama victory. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and shot the man while he went to retrieve a gun of his own.
Police released a photo of the suspects pulled from surveillance cameras (seen above). Investigators are unsure where the two men came from or where they were headed. Lt. Kip Hart of the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit said that rivalry between the two SEC West schools was never cited as a motive by his unit during the investigation.
Whether or not this incident turns out to be related to the football game, the passion between these two fanbases will never be questioned. In 2012, an Alabama was sentenced to two years in prison after ‘teabagging’ a passed out LSU fan on Bourbon Street in New Orleans hours after the Crimson Tide had won the BCS National Championship.
Police are asking people to call 205-464-8692 if they know the location or identification of these two suspects.
