Will Smith is back starring with his son, Jaden Smith, in 'After Earth' an upcoming sci-fi adventure film from director M. Night Shyamalan. We've seen Big Willie get jiggy with it in space plenty of times before but can Jaden follow in his Dad's footsteps and be a sci-fi superstar? Let's watch the 'After Earth' trailer and find out.

The last we saw director M. Night Shyamalan, he was coming off the live-action adaptation of 'The Last Airbender' which was one of the worst movies of 2010. And we just saw Will Smith in 'Men in Black 3' which may not be one of the worst movies of the year, but certainly one of the laziest. So is it possible that lil Jaden Smith, whose last film was 'The Karate Kid,' has had the most success of any of these guys lately?

If Will Smith is looking to pass the mantle onto his son, this is certainly the vehicle for it. The film goes as follows:

One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.

So what we have here is a Jaden Smith movie with a supporting role from his famous dad. The 'After Earth' trailer is here and it's certainly trying hard to be some kind of 'Hunger Games' style sci-fi/action film, we didn't leave impressed (what's with the weird accent from Will Smith?).
