Two major earthquakes have hit Mexico, causing catastrophic damage. According to CNN, the first earthquake that hit Mexico back on September 8th registered as a 8.1 magnitude quake. On Tuesday, only 650 kilometers away from the first one, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit.

As we can see from the devastating news footage, there are many people in need of help. UTEP's Student Government Association are reaching out to help Mexico by gathering donations to take to Juarez, which will then be relayed to first responders in Mexico City.

The SGA has provided a list of needed supplies:

  • Nonperishable Goods
  • Water Bottles
  • Men/Women/Children's Clothing
  • Toiletries
  • Diapers
  • Baby Food/Formula
  • Pet Food
  • Pillows and Blankets
  • First Aid Supplies

Of course, anything you can donate, including money will be appreciated. You can take donations to the Center for Interamerican and Border Studies (CIBS), located at 1514 Hawthorne, corner of Crosby, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Some comments on their Facebook page are stressing the need for first aid supplies. If you would like more information on how to help, please call915-747-5584
