5 Chocolate Facts That Might Surprise You
A Chocolate Affair will be happening this Thursday, January 30th, at the Fountains of Farah! Don’t miss out on enjoying some of the best chocolate El Paso has to offer!
Not only is chocolate a delicious treat, it actually has some other unique uses. I’ve found five interesting facts about chocolate that just might surprise you. From health to props, chocolate is a magical treat.
Chocolate is Healthy
Can Help Fight Tooth Decay
The same compound, called CBH, found in toothpaste and mouthwash can be found in chocolate. CBH is a white crystalline powder that helps harden tooth enamel. Sugar is what causes cavities so when you mix them, that’s when the bad bacteria starts attacking. If you want to harden your teeth, you might want to start eating more chocolate.
You might turn to your family and friends when you are feeling down but chocolate can also comfort you. Chocolate produces the effects of a mild anti-depressant by increasing serotonin and endorphin levels in the brain. Who needs pills when you can just munch on chocolate to make you smile!
Chocolate Doesn’t Cause Acne
I have always heard the myth of chocolate causing acne. I would stay away from it until my cravings were to much to handle. Now I know chocolate actually helps blood flow to the skin! German researchers have found out that the flavonoids in chocolate actually help consume UV light, that ultimately help blood flow and protect the skin. I think I am going to find a way to include more chocolate in my diet!
Can Be Used As Fake Blood
Chocolate isn’t just good for eating! As a horror nerd, I found out chocolate syrup was used for blood in the famous 45 second shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie, Psycho. This is going to be a must try for Halloween 2014!
