Red pumps are no stranger to Downtown's Union Square, but yesterday evening, boys and men of all ages wore them for the "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" march hosted by the YWCA.

Nearly 300 men participated in the mile-long walk while wearing heels to raise awareness for sexual assault and family violence. Fathers walked the brick road while holding hands with their daughters, wives stood next to their husbands to help them along the block and teams of men supported each other in hopes of bringing awareness to the cause. More than $50,000 was raised for the YWCA Independence House which supports victims of abuse and violence. This annual event keeps growing every year and sheds light on this very important matter with participants acknowledging the symbolic pain victims of domestic violence experience.
