3 New Mexico Children Killed, Mother Clinging to Life – Ex-Boyfriend To Blame

Preliminary evidence suggests the family was attacked by George Daniel Wechsler, 45, who was believed to have had a brief relationship with the 36-year-old mother. Wechsler was found unconscious at the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

He had tried to contact the mother of the three children to see her and her children because he wanted to give them Christmas presents, he said. He had repeatedly called and sought her out and she had told him to leave them alone. Wechsler then broke into the home Monday evening around 6:30 p.m. and waited for the mom and children to come home. It’s not clear in what order the victims were shot, but the mother was wounded as she tried to get the children out of the home. Police have not yet released the names of the victims involved as an investigation continues. Grief counselors are on hand at the children’s’ schools.
