Soldiers from the 4-1, including my son Ryan, have been coming for weeks from their final deployment in Iraq, but there is terrible news from Afghanistan today that reminds us that not all of our troops are out of harms way.

Sgt. 1st Class Clark A. Corley Jr., Spc. Ryan M. Lumley, and Spc. Thomas J. Mayberry, who were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, were killed by an IED December 3rd in the Wardak Province.  You can read a biography of each soldier here.

Fort Bliss' commanding general, Major General Dana Pittard said of the loss of his troops, "1st Armored Division and Team Bliss lost three outstanding soldiers. . . in eastern Afghanistan.  We are keeping their wives, children, families and friends in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our country.  We pray for the safe return of all our Armed Forces, and thank God for the loved ones who have made it safely home.
