Dates for 2016 Texas Sales Tax Holiday Announced
El Paso shoppers will once again catch a break at the cash register on back-to-school items thanks to the state’s annual tax free weekend.
From Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7 a sales tax will not be tacked onto your purchases of certain eligible items. As in previous years, eligible items include most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100.
On average, Sales Tax Holiday shoppers will save about $8 for every $100 you spend.
Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the savings provided the qualifying items are placed on layaway between August 5-7 or the final payment is made during the holiday.
Not all merchandise, however, is exempt. Textbooks, computers and software, for example, are not.
