UPDATE 12/10: It's official: Lonestar will be the halftime performers at the 2014 Hyundai Sun Bowl, as first reported on Mike and Tricia Mornings on December 1.

Sun Bowl game officials haven’t commented on this year’s half time performer yet, but I have reason to believe it’s going to be Lonestar. “Um, who?” you might be asking. According to Wikipedia, Lonestar is “an American country music group” whose best known song "Amazed" charted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1999.

Hyundai Sun Bowl Executive Director Bernie Olivas was asked about this year’s entertainment during the live Sun Bowl parade telecast, and while he wouldn’t name names he described their choice as an all male “crossover” act. With my interest piqued, I checked the ‘net to see if I could find anything … because that’s what all good journalists do — or so I hear. I’m neither good nor a journalist.

Anyway, I found Lonestar listed on the Pollstar website as performing at “Sun Bowl Stadium” on December 27. And Pollstar isn't just any website. They get their information “primarily from the agents, managers and promoters who are producing concerts,” which “often means we have information before a show is ‘officially’ announced locally.”

So while not exactly a confirmation, I'd be surprised if when the official announcement is made it's not Lonestar.

UPDATE 12/1: When reached for comment, a person connected with the Hyundai Sun Bowl would only say the contract for Lonestar has not been finalized.
