2013 ACM Awards: Worst Dressed
The 2013 ACM Awards took over Las Vegas last night (April 7), and we hope some of the outfits worn by country music's elite and beyond adhere to that famed Sin City adage and stay in Vegas.
What a shock for the country queen to land on this list since she is usually a sure bet to wow on the red carpet. Her Naem Kahn gown, a glorified maxi dress with a massive hot pink flower print, was thisclose to being deemed a muumuu.
Former country megastar Twain basically wore a black towel and over-the-knee boots. It wasn't even showgirl chic -- just hooker trashy. The '80s perm was also meh. Total disappointment for such a beauty.
With his long, messy hair and rough and tumble sexiness, singer Jake Owen is hot. But his choice of a grey print suit was not. The bow tie wasn't the right accent, either. He's trying to hard to be quirky, even though he'd probably never admit it.
Another surprise. The 'American Idol' judge is usually always perfectly coiffed and impeccably dressed, but last night, he turned up in jeans and combat boots. It was sloppy and looked like he didn't care enough to dress up for the event -- if he was shopping at the mall or taking the stage, this ensemble would be fine.
The Band Perry singer Kimberly Perry's white dress was a try-hard. It wanted to be fashion-forward and structural, but the second, long skirt was too stiff and, to quote Michael Kors from 'Project Runway,' it looked sad. If the designer ditched that part, this might have been a fashion win.
Pantsuits were big at this event, and Sheryl Crow wore a royal blue one with a corseted top. We're not loving this trend -- pantsuits seem to be the forte of ladies who lunch. All that volume at the leg made us wonder -- why not just do a dress?
Little Big Town singer Kimberly Schlapman wore a blue pantsuit almost identical to Crow's. It didn't work for her either, thanks to the sheer panels and bell bottoms. It was more structured and less voluminous than Crow's, but it "aged" her, stylistically.
