2013 ACM Awards: Best Dressed
The 2013 ACM Awards took place last night (April 7) in Las Vegas, bringing out country music's A-list and more. There were several style stunners, like Taylor Swift, who donned a gorgeous metallic gown, and Jewel, who was a vision in pink. Meanwhile, singer Jason Aldean ditched the jeans for a classic black suit with a cowboy edge, and newcomer Kasey Musgraves wore an absolutely precious white party frock.
The perennially unlucky-in-love singer hasn't lost a step when it comes to her fashion sense, scoring yet another red carpet win with her silver and gold metallic column gown by Dolce & Gabbana. It was a perfect choice for Vegas, although likely unintentional. She paired the intricate dress with a high ponytail for an added dose of glam.
Whomever is styling her has wisely ditched the wannabe Camelot look in favor of gorgeous glamour.
Check it out from the back. It's so detailed. Plus, you get a glimpse of Swift's shapely derriere.
Skintight jeans, cowboy boots, graphic belt buckles and 10-gallon hats are Aldean's (and country music's, for that matter) uniform. It was nice to see him ditch the nut-hugging jeans and you-know-what kickers in favor of a classic and classy all-black ensemble with dress shoes. He kept his cowboy style intact with the hat.
The country newcomer's lacy white party frock was just darling -- the full skirt and shape were so fun, and the extra details, like ostrich feather overlay and delicate cap sleeves, were breathtaking.
We admit this was our favorite of the night, especially since the messy, ombre waves added an edge. Without them, the look would have been a bit too precious. The nude heels were unexpected and sexy.
The Alaskan singer knocked 'em dead in her lacy salmon pink Georges Chakra Couture gown with a sweetheart neckline. Her figure is, like, whoa, and those big waves were so glam. It was nice to see the once earthy Jewel get all dolled up -- remember, she did do a dance pop record years ago after conquering the alt folk scene.
Jewel's dress is even better from the back, too. The fabric hugs her bootay and the column shape makes her look taller.
The Lady Antebellum singer is bursting with pregnancy -- she's expecting a lil' girl -- and we were excited for an appropriately dressed mom-to-be. Scott is the anti-Kim Kardashian, dressing for her expanding belly and changing figure, and the peacock blue hue of this flattering dress was rich and vibrant.
How refreshing to see an expectant mother that's not trying to pour herself into a leather dress and cling to the last vestiges of her former body. Scott's frock is proof that maternity-wear needn't be frumpy.
The eggplant hue of his tie-less suit was snazzy, and his Converse, which he also wore to the Grammys, are his signature, suggesting a laid-back sort of cool. While we sorta wished the country up-and-comer had worn dress shoes, his choice of kicks did impart some youth into his overall look. But the daring color far outweighs possible questionable shoes.
The 'Big Bang Theory' star was a presenter and her form-fitting black gown with a halter neckline and white piping was stunning and almost architectural. It also gave those boulders a lift. This dress didn't merely play up her curves; it screamed, "LOOK AT KALEY'S RAD BODY."
The only issue we have is the white piping on the thighs. It looks like a mustache and a face, like an M.C. Escher painting. That boldness is what landed the dress on this list.
The country singer and actress was going for the gold in her lamé gown. While we could live without the fringe accents on the bodice, her mermaid dress was eerily similar to Taylor Swift's D&G. In fact, if it didn't have the tassels, it might have felt like a copy. For some reason, this look worked on Kramer. The frilly tulle bottom softened the bold gold of the top half.
