20-Year-Old Las Cruces Man Threatens Mother with Kitchen Knife

Police in Las Cruces have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of waving a kitchen knife and threatening his mother with it.

Jose Francisco Arriaga is being held on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon which is a fourth-degree felony. Officers were called out to a mobile home on Monday evening where Arriaga was trying to hide in the shower before he had fled from police

Arriaga had gotten into an argument with his mother and then armed himself with a kitchen knife and threatened her with it. Arriaga briefly tried to elude officers before he was detained. Arriaga had five outstanding bench warrants for his arrest. He is being held in the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
