A 20-year-old woman was jogging in an El Paso park when she was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old man.  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Department has released the name and mugshot of the man, but not the name of the park in which the woman was attacked.

18-year-old Dustin Joseph Rizzo, who is from Canutillo, allegedly accosted the unidentified 20 year old woman at gunpoint, sexually assaulted, and then robbed her.  Sheriff's officials would only say she was at an El Paso County park, but because they say they want people to always be vigilant, they will not release the name of the park in which the attack happened.

Of course, it is a good idea to remember to be aware of your surroundings all the time.  Jogging alone or while listening to music is usually discouraged by law enforcement because you are an easy target.  Another good tip is to let someone know what park you'll be at, when you're going, and when you should be back.

I don't understand, however, the Sheriff's Department's stance on not naming the park.  A reminder to always remain vigilant is a good idea, but not telling women what park the attack happened in, smacks a little of "don't you worry your pretty little head about this, honey, you just leave the worrying to the menfolk".

I think they are causing a lot of widespread panic by not naming the park in which the attack happened.  We are grown women, and knowledge is power, so release the name of the park, Sheriff's Department!
